Italian Jazz on the Road is an idea blossomed and sustained by Saint Louis College of Music of Rome, the best known and renowned music didactic reality in Italy, with the contribution of MiBact (Italian Culture Ministry).

An ambitious international cooperation project meant to offer a special outlet and a European opening to the new Italian jazz, as well as a chance for exchange and growth on International networking level.

Thanks to this project Saint Louis will bring young Italian musicians, selected amongst its best talents, in a European tour, from Rome to Amsterdam, from Kristiansand to Gent, from Maastricht to Aalborg and Helsinki, for a total of 30 concerts.

With the Italian jazz on the road 2017  Saint Louis allows Italian talent, music and culture, characterized by tradition and innovation, to perform in some of the most important Conservatories and Auditoriums in Europe.

The new feature of the IJR is the direct involvement of Teachers of the High Education Institutions and local musicians, who are also involved to better ground the project and to widen its impact.

Teachers will in fact perform alongside the students in brand-new groups especially created for the project, who will be touring the partner Institutions, locally meeting and rehearsing with other musicians, who will then perform alongside them as special guests. And while guests of the Institute, they will also offer and attend workshops. Gideon Tazelaar a Italian Jazz on the Road.

The tour, organized by Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, started from Amsterdam last June with the concert of the “Gideon Tazelaar 4tet” at the Blue Note, in the prestigious Conservatory of Amsterdam. The group, which then performed in Rome, is entirely composed by students and recent excellent graduates of the two Institutes, creating a real music bridge between the 2 Countries.

So, are you ready for these 30 Italian talents touring between so many European Countries?
